Today, as we celebrate 78 years of freedom, I want to take a moment not just to salute our nation, but also to reflect on the role of design in shaping society — especially from the lens of someone who’s been in this field for over two decades.
Graphic design isn’t just about logos, packaging, or pretty visuals. It’s a powerful tool for expression, protest, education, and change. Whether it’s a slogan on a banner, a cartoon in a newspaper, or a digital poster shared across social media — design has always been there to amplify voices, spark conversations, and demand action.
Even after gaining independence, our journey as a nation continues. And when things aren’t going right — when governance falters or voices go unheard — design steps in. It grabs attention. It provokes thought. It asks the hard questions. It inspires people to speak up and stand together.
As a designer, I’ve seen how a well-crafted visual can move hearts, shift perspectives, and even fuel movements. That’s why I believe graphic designers are not just creatives — we’re contributors to society’s conscience. We’re here to make things not just look good, but feel right and do good.
So today, I celebrate not just our freedom, but the freedom to design, to express, and to make a difference.
To all my Indian brothers and sisters — Happy Independence Day! Let’s keep designing a better tomorrow 🇮🇳✨
